Weblog: Going for a bike ride

<< Previous Entry | Next Entry >>

I've taken it really easy since I came back from PG, but now it's time to get going. I didn't get onto a bicycle until the day before yesterday, but as soon as I did, I knew I wanted to keep going, so I'm going to do some kind of tour for the next week or two. The current vague plan is to take the ferry to Port Angeles, WA and then head south along the west coast, making many stops along the way for day hikes in Olympic National Park, and make my way to Portland, OR. Depending on how long that takes, I may cycle back via Seattle, or load my bike onto a bus/train home.

Instead of taking my recumbent bicycle, I decided to take my hybrid wedgie for a few reasons:

I picked up some high-capacity, waterproof Vaude panniers for the rear rack, and also a front rack where I will mount my old paniers.

I'll just take this moment to plug Ken Kifer's Bike Pages, which are an amazing resource for cycling tourers and commuters.

I can now access my usual e-mail address properly, so there is no longer any need to CC me at my Yahoo Mail account.

I don't usually link to stuff I find on Metafilter, but Geoblog is really cool. Using geotags, weblogs.com, and RSS, it displays weblogs that are updated on a map of the world in real time. Not very useful, but I just love novel uses of linking geographic information with the web. You may have noticed that all my recent weblog entries now have a "Find nearby web pages" link at the top, that links to GeoURL, and I'm now entering all my weblog entries into GeoURL.
